第14回 姫ボタル・瀞川平トレイルラン
The Himebotaru Torokawadaira Trail Run is a mountain running event set in a richly natural highland area that forms part of Hyounosen-Ushiroyama-Nagisan Quasi-National Park and has also been selected as the top site in Hyogo Prefecture’s Hundred Best Tourist Attractions. The course area is framed by the broad mountain scenery of Mt. Torokawa and Mt. Hachibuse, where varied terrain and repeated climbs and descents create a demanding but rewarding trail experience. The event takes its name from the rare himebotaru fireflies that begin to appear in this region in early summer. Nurtured by clear water and deep forest, their delicate light symbolizes the local environment and gives the race a strong sense of place. The event concept emphasizes both toughness and hospitality: the mountains quietly welcome runners while testing their strength, and each step forward can reveal a different side of oneself. Alongside the physical challenge, the warmth of the community is a central part of the experience. Small acts of care at aid stations, friendly faces along the way, and the local greeting of welcome all help create an atmosphere that encourages runners to return. It is a trail race shaped not only by rugged natural terrain, but also by the character of the Hachikita area and the people who support it.
