2026 第27回 ひわさうみがめトライアスロン
The Hiwasa Umigame Triathlon is a long-running triathlon held in Minami Town, Tokushima Prefecture, a coastal community known as a place where sea turtles come ashore. First held in 2000, the event has grown into a race loved by a wide range of athletes, from first-time participants to seasoned competitors and older age-group racers. Its appeal lies in a course that immerses participants in the town’s natural scenery and local landmarks: the clear waters of Ohama Coast, the dramatic South Awa Sun Line through Muroto-Anan Kaigan Quasi-National Park, and the area around the Hiwasa River and historic Yakuoji Temple. The race is also defined by strong community support. Local residents line the course with warm encouragement, while aid stations help athletes through the demanding conditions with ice and cold-water sponges. Participant gifts such as local specialty products and hot-spring admission tickets reflect the town-wide hospitality behind the event. The result is a race that combines a challenging athletic experience with the atmosphere of a welcoming seaside town.
