第2回 「あぶくま川源流の郷」にしごうワンデーマーチ
The 2nd Nishigo One Day March is a walking event held in Nishigo Village, Fukushima Prefecture, a village known as the source area of the Abukuma River, one of the major rivers running through Fukushima. The event is positioned as a way to experience Nishigo’s appeal as a refreshing highland park city during the season of fresh greenery, with routes that pass through natural landscapes and local points of interest. It is recognized by several walking organizations and programs, including the All Japan Walking Cup, the Tohoku Marching League, IVV-JAPAN, and Aruko Fukushima 59. Participants walk through areas such as the Horikawa promenade, the National Livestock Breeding Center area, the local history and folklore museum, Odakura Shrine, Horikawa Water Park, Horikawa Dam, and Yukiwari Bridge, depending on the course. The event combines independent walking with guided group walking for selected routes, and participants wear bibs while following the organizer’s event format. Finish-area hospitality is planned, along with commemorative items and local benefits for participants, making the event both a walking challenge and an introduction to the scenery, culture, and community of Nishigo Village.
